OA manages Massachusetts State Center for Employee Ownership
In October, 2005, Ownership Associates renewed its contract with the Commonwealth Corporation of Boston, MA, to manage the Massachusetts Office for Employee Involvement and Ownership (MASSEIO). MASSEIO is one of three state-sponsored technical assistance programs across the United States (Ohio and Vermont are the others) that promote employee ownership. OA and Duff & Phelps assist The Newspaper Guild at Knight Ridder
In December, 2005, Ownership Associates entered into an agreement with investment banking firm Duff & Phelps and The Newspaper Guild-CWA, a union representing newspaper workers. Duff & Phelps and OA will assist The Newspaper Guild in its efforts to explore a "worker friendly" buy-out of several properties of the Knight Ridder newspaper chain. Ed Carberry Joins Ownership Associates
In December, 2005, Ownership Associates welcomed Ed Carberry as a Senior Trainer and Organizational Development Specialist. Prior to joining OA, Ed served as a Senior Project Specialist at the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) in Oakland. Ed is a candidate for a Ph.D in Sociology at Cornell University where he specializes in the sociology of organizations. He has written widely in the field of employee ownership and will assume special responsibility for OA's consulting in the field of workplace participation. Ed will be presenting on the topic of ESOP Committees at the April, 2006, NCEO/Beyster Institute conference in Minneapolis.
